Mental Health & Addiction Treatment Built Around You in Fort Lauderdale
A primary mental health clinic and dual-diagnosis treatment center offering the full continuum of care from residential stabilization through PHP, IOP and outpatient programming. We work as hard for you as you work for yourself.

A place built for stabilization, reflection, and the deeper work of recovery.
Where your Clinical Director knows your name and your story not just your chart. Where therapists carry caseloads of 8 to 10. Where treatment plans evolve with you, not around an arbitrary 30-day timeline.

When mental health goes untreated, everything else follows.
Relationships strain. Work suffers. And for many people, substances become a way to cope with pain that no one has yet helped them address at the root. At Compassion Behavioral Health, we believe the most effective treatment starts with mental health first. Everything else is built on that foundation.
Located in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, our mental health clinic and addiction treatment center offers a full continuum of care, spanning residential stabilization through PHP, IOP, and outpatient programming. We serve individuals and families across Broward County and South Florida who are ready for something more than a 30-day program and a goodbye.

A clinic built to treat the mental health driving addiction.
Compassion Behavioral Health was founded in 2015 on a premise that most treatment centers were getting backward: they treated addiction and ignored the mental health driving it. Our Fort Lauderdale clinic was built specifically to reverse that equation. We are a primary mental health treatment center, and dual diagnosis care is our clinical identity.
What makes our clinic different is not just our programming. It is the scale at which we deliver individualized care. Our therapists carry caseloads of 8 to 10 clients. Clinical Directors know every patient by name and by story. You are not a number here. Your recovery plan is built around your specific history, your diagnosis, and your life. It evolves as you do.
We are accredited by The Joint Commission (JCAHO), licensed by AHCA and DCF, affiliated with NAMI, and certified through PsychArmor for military-competent care. With 633+ Google reviews across both South Florida locations and documented outcome improvements of 159% for depression and 167% for anxiety, our results speak for themselves.
Structured clinical care. Built around the individual.
Our Fort Lauderdale facility provides structured, clinically supervised mental health services designed to stabilize individuals in acute distress and equip them with the tools to sustain recovery over the long term. We do not offer a one-size-fits-all approach. Every service is embedded within a personalized treatment plan developed by your clinical team from day one.
A unified care team not one session a week as a checkbox.
Our licensed clinical team includes mental health counselors, licensed clinical social workers, psychiatrists, and addiction specialists who collaborate as a unified care team. Individual therapy sessions are scheduled multiple times per week, never once a week as a checkbox. Counselors are actively involved in every aspect of your care, from admissions through discharge planning.
Our counselors are trained across multiple evidence-based modalities, meaning they are equipped to meet you where you are. Whether your needs call for trauma-focused therapy, dialectical behavioral techniques, or motivational approaches to change, you will have a consistent therapeutic relationship throughout your time at our Fort Lauderdale center.
Levels of care for mental health treatment in Fort Lauderdale
Recovery is not linear, and a single level of care rarely provides everything a person needs. At CBH, you never have to start over with a new team when the next step in treatment arrives.
Residential / Inpatient Treatment
Around-the-clock clinical support in a structured, supervised setting. Surgery before physical therapy the foundation must come first. Stays are individualized, determined by clinical progress.
Partial Hospitalization (PHP)
Intensive clinical structure, typically five days per week and six or more hours per day, while clients return to accredited housing each evening. 70–75% PHP-to-IOP step-down rate.
Intensive Outpatient (IOP)
The bridge between structured treatment and independent living. Where PHP is the teacher, IOP becomes the coach applying skills to the rhythms of real life with the same clinical team.
Outpatient Treatment
Ongoing therapeutic support for individuals who have completed higher levels of care. Emphasizes long-term maintenance, relapse prevention and continued development of coping strategies.
Virtual Therapy
Same clinical quality and therapist continuity as in-person care, removing geographic and scheduling barriers. For the maintenance phase or when in-person isn't an option.

Our clinical team has deep expertise in the cases other facilities often cannot manage. If you or someone you love has struggled to find effective care elsewhere, we are built for exactly that.

Dual Diagnosis Treatment in Fort Lauderdale
The relationship between mental health and addiction is not incidental it is clinical. Substance use disorders rarely exist in isolation. Depression self-medicated with alcohol, anxiety numbed with opioids, trauma escaped through substance use. Treating one without the other is one of the most common reasons treatment fails.
Co-Occurring Disorders
Mental health and substance use disorders identified through comprehensive clinical assessment at intake and addressed together from day one not sequentially, not separately.
Integrated Treatment
Mental health and addiction treated by the same clinical team, using a unified plan, within the same program. No hand-off between departments. No gap between counselors.
Dual Diagnosis Program
Designed for complex presentations requiring expertise across both behavioral health domains. This is not a specialty add-on at CBH it is who we are.
A clinical toolkit not a single approach
Our Fort Lauderdale clinical team is trained across a wide range of therapeutic modalities. Each treatment plan draws on the specific approaches most appropriate for the client's diagnosis, history and goals.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
Identifies and restructures distorted thought patterns that drive emotional distress. A core element of individual and group treatment across all conditions.
Dialectical Behavioral Therapy
Builds distress tolerance, emotional regulation, interpersonal effectiveness and mindfulness. Particularly effective for intense emotional dysregulation.
Eye Movement Desensitization
Highly effective, evidence-based treatment for trauma and PTSD. Helps the brain reprocess distressing memories without reliving them in detail.
Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation
Non-invasive neuromodulation therapy for mood regulation. Available to eligible CBH clients through our NeuroHealth Fort Lauderdale partnership.
Neurofeedback Therapy
Trains the brain to regulate its own activity through real-time brainwave feedback. Effective for ADHD, PTSD, anxiety and mood disorders.
Motivational Interviewing
Client-centered approach that helps individuals explore ambivalence, build intrinsic motivation and strengthen commitment to change.
Solution-Focused Brief Therapy
Shifts the therapeutic lens from problems to possibilities. An efficient, strengths-based approach that complements longer-term modalities.
Individual & Group Therapy
The cornerstone of treatment multiple sessions per week. Group sessions are facilitated clinical work, not check-ins.
Most major insurance plans cover mental health & addiction treatment.
We accept Aetna, Cigna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, United Healthcare, TRICARE East and more. Our admissions team will verify your benefits before treatment begins and advocate aggressively when insurance attempts to limit authorized care.
Addiction is not a moral failure. It is a clinical condition.
Our Fort Lauderdale addiction treatment center was built with the understanding that substance use is most effectively treated when the mental health driving it is addressed alongside it. In nearly every case, we are treating dual diagnosis.
Alcohol Addiction
One of the most prevalent and clinically complex addictions. Withdrawal can be medically serious; psychological roots are often tied to anxiety, depression and trauma. Integrated medical stabilization, psychiatric care and evidence-based therapy.
