Patient Stories

TRUSTED BY THE COMMUNITY

I came to CBH for my addiction/substance abuse issues. They listened and help provide the tools I needed to understand and recover in a healthy way. The facilities are clean and the staff is very friendly and always lend an hand or listen and truly understand our needs. Highly recommend this place if you need any assistance.
I came to compassion for my mental health and the biggest impact while I was here were the people at this program. I was very motivated to change and took advantage of the opportunity I had. I liked how we could get soda pop and watch movies on the big screen whenever we wanted to. I loved all of the techs and the clinical team they were all very nice and hard working and made a very big impact on myself.
I struggle with mental health and substance use disorder. I was lost with no hope for the future. That is when I decided to reach out for help and contacted Compassion Behavioral health. I made tremendous progress since I’ve been here. The therapy is great alongside with the staff and the overall environment. I want the thank the entire staff for all the help that I have received and I’m graduating to PHP for continuous treatment. I highly recommend seeking help with Compassion Behavioral Health if you are struggling with mental health and or substance use disorder!!!!
I came to get treatment for my mental health and even though it has not been a easy recovery i can say i feel so much better and i know that coming to Compassion’s was the biggest step towards feeling better. I am going to continue my recovery process to their php because i know this program works. Big shout out to Elena, she helped me so much with case management stuff and just being someone that cares and listens to what i needed help with. Great program, clean, and compassionate care.
I have struggled with alcoholism and depression for the better half of my life, PTSD, along with other chronic illnesses. I have for most of my adulthood reached out for help or have advocated for myself to get better. Through the years I have gone through many programs and therapy and also have tried do help myself on my own. The last two years while screaming for help I was unable to get any and no longer had the power to do it on my own. One night late February while doom scrolling CBH popped up on my facebook and I called. The man I spoke with l, Clint was very informative, gentle, genuine, and none judgmental.
I have heard horror stories of treatment centers and I’m am so happy that is not my story. From the moment I was picked up from the airport I felt safe and was in good hands. Cindy and Shakila did my intake and were nothing but professional and caring. Making sure my needs at the time of intake was taken care of. I went through detox here and they make sure to check on me every 3 to 4 hours for the first four days, not once did I feel unsafe or uncomfortable. The nurses and staff met my every need plus some To ensure that I was as comfortable as possible through this time.

After detox when healthy enough I started going to the groups everyday and quickly found out that not only the nurses and staff Facilitators were just as amazing. Everything from yoga to art to music and the understanding of what goes on in your brain with trauma And addiction. I learned more coping skills and education on what I was going through while never being shamed or belittled. The AAA’s (the first shift) aka Ashley, Alicia, Alexa, AD, and Autumn were always on their A game!! Attentive, Communicative, trustworthy, and always met my needs. I can go one but they are amazing and really care for each and every person here. Second shift, Sebastian, Mike, are so amazing and also had a smile and brought comic relief to a hard situation. Always brought good vibes and compassion towards us. Even on head days they would go over and beyond for us. Cindy aka “Cindy Lou Who” was One of the most kind and compassionate People here she went over and beyond making every weekend a little bit special, if it was a pizza party, mailing a Saturday ice cream sho, Or even decorating for the next holiday, she was on it bring a joy and spirit of pure kindness and understanding with her at all times. She deserves a raise!!! Shakila was strict but in a way a mother is, always wanted the best but puts her foot down when needed. She made me feel like I mattered. Also calm and works her but off. Her smile brights up and room and she is definitely mama bear of center!

All in all this place helped be in ways I didn’t even expect, where there hard days of course is this easy no, but if you come in with openness and willingness the possibility for your healing is endless. Everyone here truly wants the best for you and would highly recommend for mental health and addiction.

Depression Treatment Center in South Florida

Depression is a mood disorder that leads to feelings of sadness, loss, or anger. It can interfere with an individual’s day-to-day life and negatively impact their relationships with others. Depression may also worsen health conditions such as arthritis, asthma, heart disease, and cancer.

According to Mental Health America, depression is one of the most common mental health conditions. It affects more than 16 million U.S. adults each year. It’s a serious disorder that can worsen without proper treatment.

Symptoms of Depression

Depression affects individuals in different ways. The most common symptoms, however, include:

  • Ongoing feelings of sadness, anger, or anxiousness
  • Fatigue and energy loss
  • Reduced or increased appetite and weight loss or weight gain
  • Loss of interest in activities that were previously enjoyed
  • Irritability and restlessness
  • Persistent crying
  • Slower talking and movement
  • Thoughts of suicide and death

Treatments for Depression at CBH

Fortunately, depression is a treatable condition. A combination of medications and psychotherapy is usually recommended. At Compassion Behavioral Health, we offer a variety of treatments for patients with depression such as:

Cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT)

Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT)

Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR)

Group therapy

Individual therapy

Motivational interviewing

Neurofeedback

Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT)

Transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS)

-Medication

Drug or alcohol abuse is often a cause of depression. That’s why we offer treatments that target both conditions. Between our Substance Abuse Treatment Program and a Mental Health Treatment Program, we can effectively treat both disorders at the same time.

Residential Treatment for Depression

As we understand the enormous impact that depression can have on a person’s life, Compassion Behavioral Health provides a residential treatment program that is especially intended for people who are suffering from severe depression.

Through this program, clients can access a wide range of therapies and receive round-the-clock care in an immersive, supportive environment. In-depth, individualized care is the main focus of our residential treatment program. It includes medication management, individual counseling, and group therapy sessions that address the root causes of depression, coping mechanisms, and how to build a happier, healthier life.

Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) for Depression

Our Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) for depression provides a medium ground for those in need of organized care without a need for round-the-clock supervision.

Through this program, clients can attend in CBH’s regular therapy sessions, including CBT, DBT, and EMDR, without sacrificing their ability to return to the housing we provide at the end of the day. The PHP is designed for those who are transitioning out of residential care or who require more extensive therapy than what is offered by standard outpatient programs. It is designed to assist patients in properly managing their symptoms as they begin to reintegrate into their everyday lives.

Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) for Depression

Furthermore, people who want flexibility to manage their depression while carrying out regular duties can benefit from our Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) for Depression. Compassion Behavioral Health’s IOP consists of many weekly therapy sessions that include a combination of psychoeducation, group and individual therapy, and assistance for managing symptoms of depression.

For those who have a secure home setting and are prepared to work on their recovery but still need ongoing therapy help, this level of care is ideal. In order to promote long-term recovery, the IOP places a strong emphasis on teaching coping skills, emotional control, and relapse prevention techniques.

At every level of care, including Residential Treatment, PHP, and IOP, Compassion Behavioral Health is committed to giving those suffering from depression a safe, therapeutic environment. Our mission is to equip each individual with the knowledge, skills, and resources necessary to recover improve their quality of life.
