Dual diagnosis Program

There is a strong link between addiction and mental health disorders. Roughly half of the people with an addiction also have a mental illness. To ensure that both the mental health disorder and the substance use disorder are given the appropriate attention, our two tracks of care are Substance Abuse and Mental Health.

I came here to get my meds stabilized and for residential. I was picked by a lovely friendly man named O.J ! He was so hilarious the ride was short. From the beginning the staff welcomed me. The rooms and beds an awesome. My case manager Elena was on top of everything from the beginning whatever I needed to get done as far as appointments or any thing dealing with any questions I had about my plan of care she answered we laughed till we cried I felt so at home. My therapist was Sarah who is cool as a cucumber but if you messed with me or one of her patients you’d better watch out. What an amazing therapist ! She also did family therapy for me and my husband we left better off with so much understanding. As far as the techs they are on top of helping patients with food and making sure everyone is where they are supposed to be. Sebastian was and is the best he goes over and beyond for the patients he talked me off a ledge many times gosh he should be a therapist! I will not forget Allie, Mark, Cindy,Iris, Tracee, Lashondra, and Pedro! Love you guys. Shoutout to Josh who is an amazing nurse who went over and beyond for me ! This place is healing the therapy is like no other you see some of the best doctors and you walk out a better person and with tools to fight your demons.

Compassion Behavior Health has been so helpful and supportive with my mental health and well being. I am so excited to be able to share my experience with you! I was completely taken care of from breakfast lunch and dinner, to not even doing my own laundry. it was basically paradise. I am so happy to have had the chance to get better and have a chance at normal life. I’ve been to three treatment centers and Compassions Behavioral Health is the by far the best in-patient residential program I have completed. The facility is well maintained with high quality rooms, big comfortable beds, hd smart TV’s, gaming systems, super nice walk-in showers and delicious food catering. The staff here is absolutely amazing! I want to recognize the behavioral techs, the nursing staff, the therapists and group facilitators for their empathy, professionalism, and fun personalities! Literally if I mention individual names it’s unfair to the rest of the staff because they were absolutely incredible individually. Each and everyone! They all seem to care.However I would be remiss to not mention my individual therapist (Sarah) for her fantastic sessions, the facilitator(Siena) for her interactive, energetic and upbeat approach to group, and of course my case manager(Leslie) for handling issues I considered impossible to fix but somehow she got it done like magic. Amazing!I loved this place!!!Shout-out to OJ, Tracie, Iris, Lashondra, Cindy, Melanie, Mark, Johnathan, Pedro, Natasha, Ally, Johnathan, Lauren, Angie, Elizabeth, Barbara, Stephanie, Carla, Jake, Gary, Jess. CBH is a phenomenal treatment center. Clinical helped me to find the right combination of medications that work for me while not trying to over medicate. The staff especially Elena, my case manager really care and are extremely professional and passionate about helping their clients. The facility is clean and welcoming and all the techs really accommodate the clients. I strongly recommended this treatment center for mental heath!

Ana, bilingual in Spanish and a licensed mental health counselor, serves as the Clinical Director at Compassions Behavioral Health. With a rich and passionate background in helping others, Ana pursued a master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of San Diego. Throughout her career, she has demonstrated a steadfast commitment to supporting individuals grappling with life’s toughest challenges, including suicide, trauma, severe mental illness, and substance use disorders. Ana integrates cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), Gestalt therapy, and mindfulness practices into her approach, aiming to ensure that all her clients feel heard, understood, and empowered to overcome the challenges they face.

Lisa is a licensed mental health counselor with nearly 15 years of experience in the behavioral health field in various roles such as Case Management, Therapist, Clinical Director, and Executive Director. She has a diverse background working in various settings, such as in communities, schools, hospitals, substance abuse, and mental health treatment, as well as with various populations, ranging from children to adults. Lisa’s extensive experience and passion in working with individuals struggling with severe and persistent mental illness has solidified the foundation to effectively treat various diagnoses. She possesses exemplary conceptualization skills to individualize client experience and takes pride in working amongst an interdisciplinary team and leading the clinical department in delivering quality care while meeting the unique needs of each client.

Nurse Practitioner

Heather Brathwaite has been a distinguished Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse in Florida since 1991 and holds a board certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. Her educational journey includes a BSN from Florida International University in 1991, an MSN/APRN from the same university in 1996, and a doctorate in nursing from Barry University in 2016. With extensive expertise in treating psychiatric disorders across various settings and age groups, Brathwaite adopts a holistic approach to care, emphasizing the importance of tailored, comprehensive patient care. Her clinical focus lies in consultation, treatment planning, and care coordination for outpatients with psychiatric conditions and co-occurring disorders.Beyond her clinical endeavors, Brathwaite contributes to nursing education as a full-time faculty member at Miami Dade College and has led the psychiatric mental health course. With 24 years in academia, she has also taught at several other universities and is involved in multiple professional organizations. Her dedication to nursing extends globally, as evidenced by her efforts to support nursing education in Ghana by distributing textbooks and supplies to various institutions.
