Government Employees Health Association, Inc. (GEHA) is a medical benefits provider, exclusively serving current and former federal employees, military retirees, and their families. Compassion Behavioral Health accepts GEHA insurance for our addiction treatment and mental health disorder treatment services. If you have a GEHA plan, it will likely cover at least some of your treatment and put you on the path to recovery.
GEHA Plans and Coverage
The amount of coverage you’ll receive will depend on where you live, whether your facility is in-network or out-of-network, the length of your stay, and the level of your plan. Fortunately, GEGA will cap the amount of coinsurance and deductibles you’ll pay every year.
Therefore, if your plan does cover specialty addiction and mental health treatment, your out-of-pocket payments will not exceed a certain amount. You may choose from the standard plan, high option plan, or HDHP option plan.
The standard plan covers some outpatient and inpatient services as well as prescription medications and rehab. However, GEHA limits coverage for outpatient visits to 60 per year. While the high option plan is more expensive and has the same deductible as the standard plan, it comes with a better out-of-pocket limit and coinsurance rate.
How to Determine Your GEHA Coverage
If you’re ready to pursue treatment for substance abuse, a mental health condition, or both, it’s important to understand your coverage in detail. You can reach out to GEHA directly or contact our admissions at Compassion Behavioral Health team for help. We’ll confirm your insurance and explain how your policy can make your recovery journey more affordable.
In-Network vs. Out-of-Network Coverage
An in-network facility partners with GEHA directly. If you choose one for your services, you’ll enjoy minimal to no out-of-pocket costs. An out-of-network facility, on the other hand, doesn’t have any type of partnership or agreement with GEHA. This means that you’ll likely have to pay more out-of-pocket if you opt for an out-of-network provider. To save as much money as possible on your substance abuse and/or mental health treatment, it’s best to go with an in-network facility.
