Schizophrenia is a chronic brain disorder. It causes disordered thinking and behavior that can impair day-to-day functioning. An individual with schizophrenia struggles to think clearly, manage their emotions, and act normally in social situations.
Contrary to popular belief, schizophrenia is not multiple personalities or split personalities. In fact, most individuals with schizophrenia are not violent and do not endanger others. According to the National Institute of Mental Health, schizophrenia only affects about 0.25% to 0.64% of the U.S. population.
Schizophrenia impacts individuals in different ways. It can arise in men or women of all ages. In most cases, men develop symptoms in their late teens and early 20s. Women, however, usually show signs in their late 20s and early 30s. This condition is rare in children. The most common symptoms of this schizophrenia include: Symptoms of Schizophrenia

Sean is a great case manager who will make sure things get done in a timely manager from STD requests to food stamps and more. I stayed at compassions a total of 35 days and cannot say enough good things about this program. You also have the opportunity to attend an outside gym 4 days a week, go to the beach twice a week and attend a life-changing church. If Noone has told you how important you are to Compassion Health, I'm letting everyone know how amazing you are right now. I'm not a patient attending this facility but I am the wife of one. If anyone knows how hard it can be on the loved ones doing everything they can to make things run as smoothly as possible, it's hard. it's very hard. Tyler has done nothing less than amazing of making sure everything was taken care of to make sure my husband had a place to go in one of the hardest times of his life. So Compassion Health if your reading this, I just want you to be aware that your irreplaceable employee is the reason I chose you to help my family. So someone please give this man a pay raise, a all inclusive trip to Cancun Mexico and a gift card for iced coffees so he can continue to be great at what he does. If you havnt already, go by his desk and thank him for not only being a great employee but for setting an example of what the face of every facility needs to look like. Tyler!!! The staff at clinical always made themselves available to help with any issues or questions I had during my treatment. My therapist was incredible and really helped me with everything I brought to her office. The facilitators consistently had educational and informative groups and would be available after groups to talk one on one if needed. The BHT at the residence really showed care for us and made you feel like part of a community that cares about your wellbeing and recovery giving encouragement and care every single day. During my stay I truly felt cared for and part of a community that I will forever hold close to my heart. I wouldn’t trade the experience I had at CBH for anything in the world. I would highly recommend this place to anyone who is looking for substance or mental health treatment. read lessKristina C. 7/01/2023

Felt there was a good atmosphere to maintain my sobriety. My case manager Sean and Dara did a amazing job handling my everyday happenings and anything I needed help with and sought out to get it done in a timely fashion. My therapist Jenn was great too with helping me get down to my issues with copping and gave me tools to use in the present and future to combat against stress and anxiety. My group therapists were great as well, helping me to open up about things I wouldn’t normally talk about or share with others and sometimes my family. Also I learned a lot about my self and my addiction, and ways to live a good life without my drug of choice (DOC). I was able to share about my life’s uncomfortable situations stories etc, in a safe space, which in return was able to get honest feed back and conversation around any given subject matter . The staff here has been nothing but helpful in my recovery and if it wasn’t for this place who knows what kind of hell I would be living in right now. Highly recommended place for those who seeking recovery. read lessTara H. 5/17/2023

Between the staff Heather, Dara, Tyler n so many more. The Techs and including the patients, even the ones with mental issues, taught me a lot about myself and to be humble and grateful that I was only an addict and did not suffer from any other mental disorder. The tools I learned there are keeping me sober today. I will not lie. I had almost 2 years clean and went back out because I was sent there because if I did not, I was going to lose my daughter. Nevertheless, today, I am happy to say I am sober and doing great! All the tools I learned at compassions made me the person I am today and the way I think and feel about being sober and living a sober life. I have been to many detox's and 3 rehabs, but none of them even remotely came close to how great Compassions is. The small environment which gives a lot of one on one time with your therapist's and having you in an environment that teaches you to act and behave as an adult (cooking, cleaning, eating, taking a shower, making your bed, etc) all makes a difference because those little things are major when using especially hygiene, because they become obsolete when getting high. I cannot say how grateful I am and always will be to have had the honor of being in such a great place and it is my pleasure to write this because without Compassions I would not have the tools I needed this time around to make it through the pain and suffering. They say that when you go back out again, each time gets worse, and it does 100%! So if you get the opportunity to go to Compassions, do not take it for granted because they will save your life. I can promise you that if not for them, I would not be able to stay sober today, and I will forever be grateful. read lessClaire M. 5/07/2023I’ve had such a wonderful experience with compassion behavioral health. My spirits lifted as the caring and compassionate staff actively listened to my struggles without passing judgment, and I felt heard, cared for, and no longer invisible. The colors and emotions I had missed for so long started returning, and I finally saw the beauty in the world again, which appeared brighter and brimming with endless possibilities. I recognized I was not alone and that others cared about me and my challenges. All the members of this facility, from the clinical staff to medical professionals, provided me with the guidance, encouragement, and tools I needed to create lasting changes in my life. One of the aspects I found most valuable was the variety of therapies offered, including but not limited to individual therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectal behavioral therapy, and nutrition therapy. The combination of different treatments helped me achieve optimal results, addressed various aspects of my health, and provided me with many options for treatment to see what worked best for my specific needs. In addition to the treatments, the staff made my experience unforgettable. I have stayed at other facilities that offered excellent treatment, but they lacked the necessary skills and attributes that CBH offers to achieve exceptional outcomes. A few qualities include effective communication, patience, active listening, respect, empathy, genuineness, and professionalism. More importantly, they loved me when I could not love myself. They believed in me when I did not believe in myself. They never once gave up on me, and there are no words to adequately express my eternal gratitude for the staff helping me turn my life around when my future seemed hopeless and full of darkness. Family is not just people who share your blood. Family varies for each person, but to me, family is people who can accept you for who you are and remain by your side no matter the circumstances. The people in life who endlessly love you, respect you, and genuinely care about your well-being and who have the best intentions for no other reason than they love you and want you to succeed. The dedicated staff at this center became a family to me and were more than just highly skilled professionals providing a service. They helped me overcome physical and emotional obstacles and taught me how to live a healthier, fulfilling life. I am not the same person I was when I entered the doors of this center over a year ago. When I left, my outlook on life changed, and with my experience here, I gained the necessary skills and knowledge to make better decisions and live a prosperous life. I am proud of my progress and the person I have become, and I know they are too. Regardless of where life may lead me, the memories and teachings I have acquired here will remain eternally in my heart, along with the people I met and the relationships developed. - Savannah Alumni read lessS S. 4/03/2023
