ralfEna is a Registered Marriage and Family Therapist Intern. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Florida Atlantic University and a Master of Science degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Nova Southeastern University. Ena is fluent in both English and Spanish and on her spare time she does simultaneous translation from English to Spanish at a local church.
Interning with the homeless population at Broward Outreach Center in Pompano Beach gave Ena the experience to help individuals and families get back on their feet while dealing with housing challenges, addiction and mental health disorders. Her compassionate and non-judgmental approach has prepared her for empowering individuals in crisis and high conflict situations while they become high functioning individuals in the community.

She is trained in Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR).

EMDR processing helps individuals break through the emotional blocks that are keeping them from living an adaptive, emotionally healthy life.

EMDR helps with adverse life experiences such as abuse, neglect, violence, or emotional distress which can have serious consequences later in life, such as mental illness or addiction.

She has taken a keen interest in helping children, teens and adults deal with depression, anxiety, relationship issues, grief and loss including miscarriage which is often overlooked and not considered a painful loss. Fathers who have miscarried are also under a lot of pressure because they are usually “holding down the fort for mom” and feel that they cannot show their emotions. She currently helps women with Postpartum Depression and anxiety in her private practice as well.

Ena has been married for over 17 years and has three children including her 35-year-old daughter who has Down Syndrome. She is therefore highly attentive to the challenges facing parents of special needs children and their siblings whom are often forgotten.

Ena provides family therapy and has experience with the challenges of blended families and step-parenting.

Ena is currently facilitating groups and performing individual sessions to treat trauma at Compassion Behavioral Health with EMDR. Running group discussions on different topics at Compassion Behavioral Health is certainly one of her passions and she calls it the place where “magic” happens. Especially, when it comes to addiction and mental health groups, where members support each other while they learn coping skills to manage life in sobriety.

Ena Pena also provides couples and individual counseling at her private practice in the Cooper City, Florida area. Ena has experience in pre-marital counseling and does spiritual counseling when requested. She is certified in SYMBIS (Saving Your Marriage Before It Starts) Premarital Counseling.

Ena is a board member of the South Broward/North Dade chapter of CHADD and is also a proud member of the Broward Association of Marriage and Family Therapy (BAMFT).
