My experience with the the Case Manager Elena Morales was amazing, she is extremely helpful and most importantly she truly CARES which is hard to find in facilities like these. Especially being that she is the only case manager on staff. She went out of her way to get me a dental appointment and get me food stamps. She also got my cell phone turned back on which was way above and beyond. I can't say enough wonderful things about Elena's professionalism and just all around amazing treatment for her clients

My time at CBH was a positive experience overall. After a mental health crisis, you are connected with a team of professionals who truly want to help people get better. They provide tools, coping strategies, and life skills for a wide variety of mental health struggles. My therapist that was especially helpful to my healing process was Sarah, I could not have been able to get through this without her. Further the facilitators Jake, Raquel, and wellness coach Kelly were all good people that taught you valuable skills in and out of CBH.

The staff was always kind and very responsive with all my needs, the food was good and there was always snacks and ice cream on deck. Everything was very clean and they even do your laundry for you. I definitely recommend CBH to anyone taking their first steps into recovery.

I went to compassion for my mental health, I improved a lot with my emotions and learned to control myself. Elena the case manager helped me organize my appointments for my physical health and is a really nice gal. Jake the facilitator also is the best I always want to be in his groups because it’s very entertaining and also a lot of good insights on how to be a better person, some of the topics he gives is a reality check and it will make you process a lot. Overall the place is really nice and they are compassionate just like there name.

I am very very happy that I came to this place for treatment. I had kept my life on pause for a long time and Compassion helped remind me why life was worth living again. I loved all the friends I made here, the groups were amazing! Shout out to my therapist Shauna! Shoutout to the group counselors Gary and Kelly! I LOVEDDDDD the Yoga sessions. Thank you Sebastian for teaching me to play ping pong. Thank you Cindy for going above and beyond and baking us desserts and setting up games. Thank you Elena for helping me when I needed to order items. I really did enjoy my time here a lot, I am so glad I came. Thank you all so much.

Heroin Rehab in Hollywood, Florida: Medical Detox and Long-Term Recovery Support

Heroin use is often a response to untreated depression, anxiety, PTSD, or chronic stress, not a failure of willpower. When those conditions remain unaddressed, the brain seeks relief wherever it can, and opioids briefly quiet pain while deepening it over time. Hollywood Heroin Rehab works when mental health comes first and substance use is treated as a co-occurring condition throughout care.

Stabilization starts with medical safety, then moves into therapy that heals the drivers of use. With licensed clinicians coordinating psychiatry, trauma care, and ongoing support, patients can step down through a full continuum without losing momentum. The result is a safer detox, clearer mind, and a plan that sustains real change.

Patient-centered heroin recovery in Hollywood, Florida with medical and therapeutic support

The Mental Health Roots of Heroin Addiction: What the Research Tells Us

Co-occurring mental health disorders are highly prevalent among people using opioids, and they meaningfully affect outcomes. Anxiety, depression, PTSD, and bipolar spectrum conditions can alter stress systems and reward pathways, making opioid relief feel essential in the short term. Evidence shows that integrated care addressing both mental health and substance use together improves retention and long-term recovery.

Genetics, trauma exposure, and chronic pain intersect with social stressors to magnify risk. Effective treatment aligns psychiatry with psychotherapy so medication changes and coping skills build at the same time. To see how this integrated model works in practice, learn about our dual-diagnosis approach in Florida.

Medically Supervised Heroin Detox at CBH Hollywood: What to Expect

Detox is physician-directed and nursing-supported 24/7 at the Hollywood campus, prioritizing safety, privacy, and comfort. Patients are assessed with opioid-specific tools like the Clinical Opiate Withdrawal Scale, with vitals monitored, hydration and nutrition supported, and sleep protected. When appropriate, buprenorphine-based protocols reduce withdrawal severity and cravings while non-opioid comfort medications target symptoms like anxiety, GI upset, and muscle aches.

During detox you can expect:

  • Thorough medical and psychiatric assessment
  • Round-the-clock nursing and vital monitoring
  • Evidence-based withdrawal and craving medications
  • Symptom-specific comfort and sleep support
  • Discharge planning that starts on day one

Every plan is individualized, with careful handoffs into therapy so momentum is not lost between levels of care. Explore our medical detox services in Hollywood to understand how stabilization leads directly into treatment.

Dual-Diagnosis Heroin Rehab: Treating Withdrawal and Co-Occurring Conditions at the Same Time

Withdrawal relief is only the beginning; the work continues with therapy that treats the conditions driving use. Patients engage in CBT, DBT skills, EMDR for trauma, neurofeedback, and non-mandatory peer supports like SMART Recovery and 12-Step. Psychiatrists coordinate medication management, and GeneSight testing is available in high-acuity mental health cases to guide safer, more effective prescribing.

Care is intimate by design, with small therapist caseloads and clinical directors who know each patient’s story. Family therapy is integrated, and our relapse philosophy is compassionate: make it a lapse, not a relapse, and re-engage skills without shame. Opioid-specific supports continue with medication-assisted treatment options to reduce cravings while therapy builds resilience.

From Detox to Residential and Beyond: Building Lasting Heroin Recovery at CBH

Stabilization flows into residential treatment at the Hollywood campus, where Canine Assisted Therapy occurs twice weekly and expressive therapies like art and music reintroduce motivation. Step-down care continues at the Fort Lauderdale center across PHP, IOP, and OP, keeping the same core team to protect continuity. The PHP leveling system is empowerment-based, opening access to family therapy, therapeutic passes, and full programming as patients progress.

Support is inclusive and culturally competent, with LGBTQIA+ affirming care, dedicated Friday gender-specific groups, and PsychArmor-trained staff for military families. A 21-year veteran leads Veteran Services to help navigate VA benefits, and TRICARE East is accepted. JCAHO, AHCA, DCF, and NAMI affiliations reflect rigorous standards, while 633+ patient reviews highlight improvements in depression, anxiety, and PTSD.

Recovery extends well past formal treatment through alumni contact, safety planning, and community linkage. Families join Compassion Connections, a bi-weekly virtual series that turns loved ones into allies. Read more about how aftercare supports sobriety so gains in treatment remain durable at home.

Frequently Asked Questions About integrated heroin treatment in South Florida

Here are clear answers to common questions families and patients ask:

  1. Which mental health conditions most often co-occur with heroin use?

Depression, anxiety disorders, PTSD, and bipolar spectrum conditions are common. Chronic pain and trauma histories also elevate risk and complicate recovery.

  2. How long does opioid withdrawal typically last?

Acute symptoms often peak within the first few days and begin easing after. Some sleep, mood, and craving symptoms can persist longer and need support.

  3. Is medication-assisted treatment required for everyone?

No, medications are offered when clinically indicated and aligned with patient goals. Decisions are individualized and reviewed with medical and therapeutic teams.

  4. What therapies are used alongside medical care?

Patients may receive CBT, DBT skills, EMDR for trauma, and neurofeedback. Expressive therapies, family therapy, and peer supports are also available.

  5. How are families involved during treatment?

Families participate through structured therapy and a guided education program. Involvement is coordinated to support boundaries, communication, and relapse prevention.

  6. What happens if someone uses substances during treatment?

Staff respond without shaming and focus on rapid stabilization and learning. The goal is to turn a lapse into a recovery lesson and adjust the plan.
